About Mutante

Mutante Cine it´s a new film production company, created in  2011 by Agustina Chiarino and Fernando Epstein. Over the past decade, from Control Z Films they have produced and distributed several films and shortfilms, including 25 WattsWhisky, La Perrera, Acné, Gigante, Hiroshima, 3 and Tanta Agua.

Mutante Cine is committed to continue producing films and, at the same time, open to new horizons, maintaining  the emphasis in the discovery of new talents and the exploration of differents areas inside the film production and audiovisual training.

Agustina Chiarino

Executive Producer

Born in 1977 in Montevideo, Uruguay. In 2000, she was granted a bachelor’s degree on Communication Studies by the Universidad Católica of Uruguay, and, in 2003, a master’s degree on Documentary Filmmaking by the Universidad Autónoma of Barcelona. She has been a producer of feature films, music videos, documentaries, corporate videos, short films and commercials in Mexico, Barcelona and Uruguay since 1998.

In 2004 she acted as Production Manager in Manolo Nieto’s La Perrera as well as in other short films produced by Control Z Films. Mexico’s Miguel Calderón’s La discípula del velocímetro marked her debut as an executive producer. Since 2007 she has been an executive producer and partner at Control Z Films, a film production company in which she produced the feature films Gigante by Adrián Biniez, Hiroshima and 3, by Pablo Stoll, and Tanta Agua, by Ana Guevara and Leticia Jorge.

In 2011 she set up the film production company Mutante Cine with Fernando Epstein, to keep on developing and distributing documentary and feature films, in addition to implementing training courses for members of the audiovisual industry (PUENTES-EAVE).

She chairs Channel 10′s National Production Department’s committee for receiving and developing new projects. As well as a teacher, tutor and counselor, she has been a member of the jury at a number of project development contests.

Fernando Epstein

Executive Producer

Born in 1969 in Montevideo, Uruguay. He was granted a bachelor’s degree on Communication Studies by the Universidad Católica of Montevideo in 1999. From 1997 to 2001 he worked as an editor of commercials, documentaries and music videos; at the same time, he coached future editors at the Universidad Católica of Uruguay.

25 Watts (2001, by Juan Pablo Rebella and Pablo Stoll) marked his debut as an editor and executive producer of a feature film. Alongside Rebella and Stoll he set up Control Z Films, in order to distribute 25 Watts and develop short and feature films such as Whisky (2004, by Juan Pablo Rebella and Pablo Stoll), La Perrera (2006, by Manuel Nieto), Acné (2007, by Federico Veiroj), Gigante (2009, by Adrián Biniez), Hiroshima (2010, by Pablo Stoll) and 3 (2012, by Pablo Stoll).

As a teacher in the field of Executive Production, he taught curricular and extracurricular courses at ECU (Uruguay’s Film School), ORT University and the Catholic University of Uruguay. He has also taught courses abroad, at EICTV (Film and Television School of San Antoño de los Baños, Cuba) and in Asunción del Paraguay, for the itinerant organization FORMATA.

In 2011 he set up the film production company Mutante Cine with Agustina Chiarino, to keep on developing and distributing documentary and feature films, in addition to implementing training courses for members of the audiovisual industry (PUENTES-EAVE).
